Name one decent quarterback to ever come out of Florida State University that has been productive in the NFL?…. Hold on…. I’ll wait…. The thing is, there hasn’t been any. The only respectable quarterback to come out of Florida State’s program is Charlie Ward, and even he was smart enough to pursue a Basketball career. This shitty ass program has time and time again had the luxury of having top recruits from the nation, but when they are supposed to be contenders they end up being pretenders. Time and time again Florida State has come up smaller than mini me in football. The best decision that anyone has ever done at this university is transfer somewhere else.
It’s a sorry excuse for a university that lived off the swagger and attention the Miami Hurricanes brought to the college scene, and thought that they could do the exact same thing. Year after year this cum dumpster of a school has obtained a top 10 recruiting class, yet has never maximize each recruit’s potential. The valedictorian of this summer school, E.J. Manuel, was the first quarterback to get drafted in this year’s NFL draft. How in the hell is a quarterback this bad going to be selected in the first round when there were so many other better prospects at any position.
The most ridiculous part about this horrendous draft pick was when Doug Marrone, the coach of the Buffalo Bills, said that he was impressed with the way Manuel passed the ball at a private workout in bad weather. Now when I heard this I thought it was just a joke. How is the deciding factor between three Quarterbacks, one who played in West Virginia, one in South California, and the other who played in Tallahassee going to be that one person played well in bad weather? When did it ever snow in Tallahassee? When has the weather gone below 10 degrees in the capital Florida? If the best thing that you could say about a prospect is that he played well in bad weather then maybe you should reconsider drafting that prospect. This makes no fucking sense. Looking back at the Seminole’s schedule for the 2012 season, E.J. Manuel never showed any type of first round talent. His performance against Florida showed that he should not have been drafted in the first round. His 3 interceptions had a huge impact in FSU losing that game, and showed how vulnerable his passes are against an SEC defense. Manuel was drafted way too high for his average FSU career. The Buffalo Bills really need to have their eyes checked because there was never a game in this guy’s career where he jumped out of the television. A player drafted in the first round needs to be a sure thing, and is supposed to be the guy that is able to impact your team instantly and in a positive way. This is not that quarterback.
E.J. Manuel will need too much development for a team that is below average and has a terrible receiving core. This move will set them back a couple of years until they realize their mistake and the people who drafted him are all out of work and claiming welfare. Geno Smith or Matt Barkley would have made more sense due to their ability to accurately throw receivers open. These two other quarterbacks unlike Manuel did actually have games when they took over and showed how talented they were. This is just looking up to be another JaMarcus Russell situation for the Bills. If the reason that the Bills decided not to pick up Geno Smith was that he was considered to be a diva, well then they just got themselves a backup dancer. This decision by the Bills will haunt and delay this team from ever becoming a super bowl contender. The Bills will no longer be known as Boy I Love Losing Super bowls B.I.L.L.S but rather Boy I Love Looking Stupid.
